From the desk of Bitter's Office

The title of my generic blog posts will be "From the Desk of Bitter's Office #X." So if you don't want the slice of life generic blog post and only want interesting things (that I might eventually write) then skip these!

I'm feeling much better about using Bear as a blogging platform compared to other stuff I've used in the past. It feels much less intimidating and something I can easily jump into at the end of a workday. I'm fairly happy with my weird purple/green color scheme and the anime girl on the front of my homepage. It looks and feels the right amount of professional (which is to say, not at all) that I want. I'll likely be poking at the site bit by bit and adding little things (like a button!)

I love technology

I'm coming off being sick (not covid, yippee) and today was the first day I was feeling better. Thus, god decided to give his strongest soldier his hardest challenge and I had to work all day to save a small company's Windows 2016 server. Just when you get comfortable with Windows Update not breaking things, it decides to snipe a random domain controller. Pay your respects to "sfc /scannow /offbootdir=C:\ /offwindir=C:\windows" because this saved me from have to do a bare metal restore at 5pm on a Monday.

video games

I've been bouncing around a few different games lately. Mainly playing Risk of Rain 2's latest DLC update since I finally got all the mods in my list working again. Otherwise, it's been Honkai: Star Rail and Pokémon Ultra Moon. I've downloaded UFO 50 as well and have given a few of the games a try. My initial impression is that everything is really well-crafted and thoughtfully done. The gimmick of it being 50 unreleased NES games from a defunct company in the 80s is great for a hook. The 4-5 I've played so far are excellent (even if they aren't my cup of tea) and I'm excited to play through a few more.

Hololive GTA

Hololive's recent GTA RP server really got me through being sick most of last week. These limited time events are great and generate a lot of fun content/clips. In general, I've always really liked limited-time or seasonal events when a streaming group does them. Mint and Matara's Summer Special being a recent example as well. A podcast just for the summer is a fun idea and keeps things from getting stale over several years. The Yogscast Jingle Jam is a seasonal event I look forward to every year as well. It sets me in the Christmas mood when I see them streaming Open TTD.

Baseball!!!

The Cleveland Guardians have clinched postseason and their own division! This has been a fun season to watch and I'm excited to see some post-season play. Not sure what I am going to do with all the hours I'll get back from not watching sports. How am I supposed to play Pokémon on the couch without the background of baseball?? Guess I'll be finding out.
